Following the ban on single-use plastics, which came into force on July 1, 2021 and which, among other things, prohibits the sale of plastic straws, stirrers and disposable polystyrene packaging, further changes to the Packaging Act have now been decided. The amendment to the Packaging Act (VerpackG2) stipulates that a reusable offer obligation for restaurants, bistros and cafés will come into force from January 2023. We summarize what catering establishments should know about the new law.
